"Not Even Words Can Describe the Joy"

I am extremely excited to make my first post about a camper we were able to help this past summer. More to come with this summer’s campers, as well as my own thoughts about the future of the organization. 

This post is about an 11-year old who lives in Texas. As with all of our Compass Project campers (at least so far), she had never attended summer camp before and didn’t expect to do so. But her mom learned about our program, she found Camp Pine Cove, and with our support she was able to send her daughter there this summer. As I have written about on this website, the opportunity for me to build relationships and experiences independently was hugely important to becoming the person that I am. That’s what I want this organization to help other kids get. So I am so happy to hear this camper say, when she got home, “not even words can describe the joy [camp] has brought me.” She said that making new friends at camp was so important to her. I think back to my first year at camp, not knowing anyone and unsure of what I would do. Realizing that I could make my own friends gave me so much self confidence for the future.
